The 4" upswept blade is handmade from D2 tool steel — an air hardening, high carbon, high chromium tool steel heat treated by Silver Stag to 62 Rockwell hardness, producing a blade that retains its factory edge through extended periods of heavy field use and hones back to a razor edge when resharpening is needed. The upswept blade geometry is Silver Stag's preferred skinning profile — the curved belly and upswept tip allows for long, precise skinning strokes that follow the natural contours of the animal, giving you exceptional control and efficiency whether you're pulling hide on a whitetail or working through the shoulders of a bull elk. Note that a light coat of oil after use keeps the D2 blade in peak condition.
