At the heart of the DFS3.1 is a 3.1" drop point blade hand forged from Silver Stag's own Damascus steel — a pattern-welded billet made from 1095 and 15N20 high carbon tool steels forge welded and folded repeatedly to produce 150 to 250 layers. Patterns are created by manipulating the steel during the forge welding process, available in Silver Stag's striking twist pattern or equally stunning random pattern — each one completely unique to that specific blade. The combination of layered hard and soft steels produces a blade with exceptional flexibility, toughness, and outstanding cutting performance, with the invisible micro-serrations that the layered structure creates along the edge. Silver Stag hand profiles each blade from the Damascus billet, then hand grinds and polishes the finished knife — a process that requires genuine skill and produces a result that no machine-made knife can replicate. Note that the nickel in the 15N20 steel provides good corrosion resistance, but a light coat of oil after use is recommended to keep the blade in peak condition.

The genuine North American antler slab handle is hand cut, polished, and individually pinned through the full tang blade by Silver Stag craftsmen. Because antler is a natural material, no two handles are ever identical — the color, texture, grain pattern, and natural character of your knife will be unique to you. The slab construction gives the handle a substantial, confidence-inspiring feel in the hand with excellent grip in field conditions. Comes with an upgraded hand-laced leather sheath.
