The amber bone Medium Stockman in Chrome Vanadium is a knife for those who know exactly what they want — the "original" Case blade steel, a natural bone handle that is the true heart of the Case line, and three blades that cover every cutting task from the practical to the precise. Part of Case's Amber Bone CV family, the 00079 is a working knife and a collectible in equal measure.
The Stockman pattern packs three distinct blades into one compact, pocket-friendly knife with the clip and sheepfoot blades on the pocket end and the pen blade on the cap end for intuitive access. The 2.57" clip blade handles the broadest range of daily cutting tasks with precision and control. The 1.88" sheepfoot blade features a straight edge and curved back for exceptional tip strength and fingertip control — ideal for carving, carpentry, and any task requiring a clean, controlled cut. The 1.76" pen blade, originally designed to cut and sharpen turkey quills for use as ink pens, excels at light-duty precision work and rounds out this incredibly versatile trio.
All three blades are crafted from Case Chrome Vanadium steel — the "original" Case blade steel, a special formula of alloyed steel prized by serious knife users for its outstanding edge-holding ability and exceptional ease of resharpening. Many collectors and working knife enthusiasts prefer CV steel precisely because it takes and holds a keener edge than stainless, and responds beautifully to regular maintenance. Note that Chrome Vanadium blades are less resistant to rust and corrosion than stainless steel — a light coat of oil after use keeps these blades in peak condition and ensures this knife will be around for future generations to enjoy.
The peach seed jigged amber bone handle is the true signature of the Case brand — warm, natural, and beautiful, sourced from the shin bone of Zebu cattle and given Case's distinctive peach seed jigging pattern for added texture and grip. Highly polished nickel silver bolsters and an oval nickel silver script inlay shield complete this genuinely heirloom-quality working knife. Handcrafted in Bradford, Pennsylvania, USA.
