But the Vapyr is something genuinely new.

Benchmade shaved the Vapyr's profile down to a staggering 33% thinner than the classic Bugout, while simultaneously engineering a longer mechanical life cycle into the AXIS Lock mechanism. The result is a knife that virtually disappears in your pocket — not the paper-thin, fragile disappearing act of an ultra-light economy knife, but the confident, purposeful disappearing act of a precision-machined tool that is actually thinner because it was built better. The chassis is machined from black anodized 6061-T6 aluminum — not polymer, not G-10, but rigid, premium-feel aluminum that eliminates handle flex entirely while anchoring the knife's geometry with authority. At just 1.72 oz, the Vapyr achieves a more substantial presence in the hand than polymer-handled Bugouts while being even more pocketable. Stainless steel liners and fittings complete the construction.

The 3.24" modified drop-point blade is crafted from CPM-MagnaCut stainless steel (60-62 HRC) — a revolution in powder metallurgy developed by metallurgist Larrin Thomas specifically to eliminate the traditional tradeoff between corrosion resistance and wear resistance. MagnaCut delivers edge retention that rivals exotic tool steels, toughness that outperforms traditional stainless, and rust resistance that exceeds premium stainless blade steels — all at once. The black Cerakote finish adds exceptional durability and a stealthy, unified aesthetic. Spine jimping and a swedge complete the blade package. Taiga Green accents on the backspacer and ambidextrous thumb studs add a sophisticated contrast to the all-black platform. A reversible mini deep-carry pocket clip and oversized lanyard hole round out a thoroughly reimagined everyday carry knife.
