The 2.79" spear point blade is M390 stainless steel, hardened to 58–61 HRC and finished in gray Cerakote. Where the standard 491 goes with a satin polish, the GY-01's Cerakote adds a protective coating that reduces glare, increases surface hardness, and gives the blade a matte, tactical character that contrasts sharply against the vivid Phoenix Red handle. M390's steel properties remain the foundation — outstanding edge retention, excellent corrosion resistance, and a fine, long-lasting working edge that holds up through daily carry and daily use. The spear point geometry keeps tip control precise and the edge profile versatile across cutting tasks.

The AXIS Lock flipper mechanism delivers the same smooth, snappy deployment as the rest of the Lowden family — pull back the finger lever and the blade is out, locked, and ready. The ambidextrous AXIS bar closes just as cleanly from either side, making this a genuinely left-hand-friendly flipper without any compromise or adapter required. Phoenix Red anodized 6061-T6 aluminum handle scales are milled for texture and grip, filling the palm confidently at 0.502" thick. The FDE-finished deep-carry reversible tip-up pocket clip keeps the profile low in the pocket while making it easy to pull from either side.
