Benchmade 315BK-01 Successor Slipjoint Pocket Knife — M390 Black DLC, Burnt Brass Aluminum Handle

The Benchmade 315 Successor already set a high bar for the modern gentleman's slipjoint. The 315BK-01 dresses it in black and brass — and the result is something distinctly its own.

The 2.56" drop point blade is M390 stainless steel, hardened to 58–61 HRC and finished with a black Diamond-Like Carbon (DLC) coating. DLC is one of the hardest surface treatments available on a production knife — it adds measurable wear resistance on top of M390's already outstanding edge retention, protects the blade from corrosion, and gives the knife a low-profile, non-reflective black finish that contrasts beautifully against the warm brass handle. Benchmade further refines the edge to their 14° SelectEdge geometry — a shallower angle than most production knives ship with, translating to noticeably less effort on push cuts and slicing tasks. A minimalist nail nick keeps the blade face clean and uninterrupted.

The handle pairs Burnt Brass anodized 6061-T6 aluminum scales with an Ash Gray aluminum bolster — a warm, sophisticated color combination that reads less tactical and more timeless. The brass-and-gray aesthetic gives the 315BK-01 a presence that's equally at home clipped to a dress shirt pocket as it is in a chore coat. At 0.432" thick and 3.7" closed, it's genuinely slim, and at 2.28 oz it simply doesn't register in a pocket. The slipjoint mechanism delivers a solid detent and a tactile, satisfying half-stop — traditional function executed at a premium level.
