The 2.56" drop point blade is M390 stainless steel, hardened to 58–61 HRC and finished with a satin polish. M390 is a powdered metallurgy super steel from Böhler-Uddeholm — renowned in the knife world for combining outstanding edge retention, exceptional corrosion resistance, and good toughness in a package that takes a razor edge and holds it. Benchmade further sharpens it to their 14° SelectEdge geometry, a factory edge angle that dramatically reduces cutting effort on push cuts and slicing tasks compared to the standard 20° bevels found on most production knives. A minimalist nail nick keeps the blade clean and uncluttered — no thumb hole, no thumb stud, no aggressive texturing — just a traditional opener that fits the character of the knife perfectly.

The handle pairs Crater Blue anodized 6061-T6 aluminum scales with an Ash Gray aluminum bolster — a two-tone color combination that gives the Successor a distinctly modern aesthetic while nodding to the classic gentleman's pen knife tradition. At 0.432" thick, this handle is genuinely slim, and the 3.7" closed length means it disappears into a front pocket without bulk or fuss.
